Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition in which your own immune system malfunctions and attacks the insulin-producing cells in your pancreas. The Throne stem cell treatment re-educates your immune system not to attack your insulin-producing cells.<\/p>

In this two-day treatment process, blood is drawn from a vein in your arm, white blood cells are separated from the red blood cells, and the red blood cells are returned to a vein in your other arm in a process called apheresis, similar to dialysis. Your separated white blood cells are then co-cultured overnight with unrelated cord blood stem cells. Then your treated white blood cells, but not the cord blood cells, are reinfused into your arm vein the next day. This treatment is still investigational and not yet FDA-approved, but results to date are promising. Of patients with the onset of type 1 diabetes within the past two years, most Throne-treated patients have been able to reduce or, in some cases, eliminate, their need for insulin or other diabetes treatment drugs. Even some type 1 diabetes patients on insulin treatment for many decades have recovered some ability to make their own insulin. The earlier Throne stem cell treatment is obtained, the better the result. The improved ability to make your own insulin will improve your ability to naturally regulate your blood sugar level all day long, both before and after meals.
